Minutes of the Bairns Trust Meeting
19th March 2007 Falkirk Stadium

Present: B. Anderson, S. Jackson, F. Caldwell, P. Jack, L. McDaid, B. Guthrie, J. Gardiner, M. McIntyre, S. Monfries, M. Fraser, R. Stirling, Jnr., J. Dick, M. Paterson, T. Paterson, G. Elliot, J. Jamieson.

  1. Welcome/opening remarks.
  2. Apologies – Stewart Wilson.
  3. Elaine Millar – Development Officer of Supporters Direct gave an interesting and informative talk of their aims. Looking for BairnsTrust to undertake trial training for Committee Members.
  4. Minutes of previous meeting. Proposed S Monfries. Seconded B Guthrie.
  5. Matters arising:

Junior Bairns – no progress with the table situation.
Tom Jamieson trophy – this will take place on Wednesday 28/3 between 10-12.
Ex players – this is still going well. Should something be arranged at the end of the season for the former players – a dinner perhaps? Herald to take photos?
Andy Lawrie Testimonial match – 29/4 provisionally, Owen Coyle to confirm this will be ok. No dinner date arranged as yet at Galashiels.
Ball handed in late from Celtic for signing. Celtic management refused to take ball for signing at recent game.

6.   Secretary's Report:

Typed the minutes, sent them to committee and also for uploading onto site. Emailed Supporters Direct again with new contact details re secretary. Informing Falkirk Football Club as to which ex players are coming to home game.
Contacting ex players re availability to play in charity golf tournament taking place later in the year.
Contacted Kevin Rye direct at Supporters Direct with up-to-date contact details.

7.   Treasurer's Report:

1 new adult member.
Share save – 14 members, 3 new possible joiners.
Videos sold x1 = £2 and DVDs sold x 2 = £10 made.
Bill in and paid, t shirts distributed.
£33 earned from programmes.
Photos going well £72.50 has been made.
Quiz night – Sandy Monfries donated his share of winnings back to the Bairnstrust.
BairnsTrust have £4,100.00 balance at present.

125 emails have been sent  over past month.
Newsletters #31 and #32 were sent out to members.
A cheque has been received from Falkirk F.C. re former players admin costs.
T-shirts invoice received and paid for £259.45.
Questionnaire received regarding a Boardroom experience winner.
Contacted sharesaver 26/02/07 who is willing to sell his shares back – no response as yet.
A.G.M. advert placed in Falkirk Herald this Thursday with details of the meeting.
Audit – Treasurer made various calls and had meetings. Unqualified accountant could check Treasurers (who is qualified accountant) work at a cost of £50. Appoint Colin Gibson, qualified accountant, this was agreed by the meeting, proposed by P. Jack, seconded by B. Anderson.
It was noted that the Trust appreciates all the work being done by the Treasurer.
Resolutions for the A.G.M. to be in by the 23rd March. Since done.
Bundle of programmes from recent Aberdeen, Hibs received for sale at stall.
Bairns Trust table open for the upcoming charity game.
Steven Jackson to bring his own programmes along and donate half back to the Bairns Trust of anything made.
Hire of room at Falkirk Stadium will have to be arranged for monthly meetings for the year. Secretary to progress.
FSA Return received, to be completed by end April once AGM passes Annual Accounts.
Further Tom Jamieson trophy costs to be received from FFC after event on Wednesday 28th March '07.
Member's distribution label list for AGM documents being compiled by BairnsTrust IT team.

  1. Social Convenors Report:

Tramps Ball was cancelled as it clashed with Lt. Stardust. Instead of Dobbie Hall no dates yet, could get the Castings for free when it is rescheduled.
At Eddie May Stewards & Pros v FFC planned charity event stalls could be hired by anyone who was interested in doing so, with 50% of ticket money raised going to Bairns Trust.
Social Convenor to liaise with John Hughes re suitable date.
Social Convenor to liaise with Peter Eadie of JV re use of stadium and a suitable date.
Social Convenor to liaise with Caterers re kiosks being open.
Money in for t-shirts. Order and money in a.s.a.p. and next order should be in for next home game.
Discussions with George Craig re planned Holland trip, Groningen  based, going 9th July with 2 amateur and 2 major games planned on the Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Need schedule before travel arrangements can be in place by BairnsTrust. Meeting to be arranged for those interested in going, with £100 deposit payable at the time.

Meeting on Thursday.
Player's injuries – a few still out.
New contracts for 3 players?
Planning permission in for Stirling pavilion.
Benefactor paid for new building.
New team bus now on hire.

  1. A.O.C.B.

Ranger's letter – was advised it would be a waste of time contacting them.   Suggestion that some directors go into the away end at these games and see what it is like for the supporters!

Buffet prices – Bovril up 40p?! Soft drink prices up too, food standards going down. Complaint to be made.

No Boardroom draw made for remaining fixtures due to lack of space.

11. A.G.M. next meeting on Monday 16th April at 7.30.     

 

The next meeting of BairnsTrust will be at the Falkirk Community Stadium. 
Everyone is welcome and can participate in discussion, but only members are allowed to vote on any issue.
