Supporters Direct Scotland Conference 2008
The 6th annual conference of Supporters Direct Scotland was held on Sat 07/06/08 in the Management Centre at Stirling University, Stirling from 10am to 5pm. This year, six members of the BairnsTrust board attended the event, in order to make the most of the conference. This was a great chance to network with Trust counterparts of e.g. Dundee Utd's ArabTrust, Inverness CT, Clyde, Dumbarton, Dee4Life, Livingston, Erin Hibs, Dumbarton, QOS, etc.
A change to this year’s conference was the focussing on some of the bigger issues in football such as Regulations, Ownership, Community and League Structure. A synopsis of each topic will be mentioned at Monday's meeting. One of the main speakers was the CEO of the Homeless World Cup who gave an excellent presentation. Find out more at www.homelessworldcup.org/
including some excellent video clips.
Falkirk FC were mentioned as the model club when discussing the demise of Gretna and how to prevent that happening in the future in terms of a club who moved to a new compact ground with scope for development, concentrated on training and academy set up, allowed the manager time to implement his style and all done with a balanced set of books and continued success in the SPL. To highlight this their was even FFC Kids classes on at Stirling University as the delegates arrived! A great day was had by all and Supporters Direct are compiling a full report later in the year on the areas discussed at the conference, watch out for this on the Supporters Direct website HERE
STAND UP For Falkirk Campaign

BairnsTrust are fully supporting the Stand Up for Falkirk campaign and hope the best outcome is acheived for the community as a whole. No Meeting Next Month
Due to the summer break, there will be no monthly meeting in July. Meetings will start again in August and all members are reminded that the renewal date for subscriptions in 1st August 2008.
You may have seen in last month's electronic newsletter that BairnsTrust had been contacted by the SwansTrust (Swansea City FC) regarding a new monthly income generator that once put in place can give Trusts a fresh monthly income for good. This was provided by a utilities company called The Utility Warehouse (UW). They claimed that it had been checked out and had full approval from Supporters Direct but it has now come to light that this is not the case. Supporters Direct contacted BairnsTrust to state that they had NOT endorsed the use of The Utility Warehouse and have made no judgement to date about how genuine or ethical they are. Therefore, BairnsTrust do not encourage our members to use this scheme until Supporters Direct officially endorse it.
The ShireTrust AGM took place on Wed 28/05/08 at Thornhill Community Centre where your BairnsTrust Treasurer assisted in the completion of their own Independent Exam for the year ended 31/12/07 and your Vice-Chairman acted as Scrutineer for their elections, reciprocating the ShireTrust Committee Member who covered BairnsTrust's election. It was a successful night and ideas were shared for new income generation for BairnsTrust which have worked well for ShireTrust. Watch this space for these at the beginning of next season.
ShireTrust are also holding their annual quiz night on Friday 27th June in 'The Auld Toll' Grangemouth at 8pm. It is £10 per team of four to enter with a first prize of £100. BairnsTrust will be sending a team as usual and it is open to everyone so get in touch with either BairnsTrust at email@example.com
or ShireTrust as soon as possible to book your place at firstname.lastname@example.org
Finally, if you have any topics or articles you wish to be included in future BairnsTrust Electronic Newsletters, please respond by your preferred contact method below.
