Meet The Manager
A capacity crowd of 120 packed into the Amarillo Bar at the Stadium on Thursday 03/09/09 for the first chance to talk to new first team manager Eddie May. The evening was a huge success with everyone given the chance to ask their questions to the new man in charge. Questions varied from "Why was Darren Barr playing at right back?" to "How much compensation did we pay to Neil McCann?". All questions were given satisfactory answers with Managing Director George Craig taking any questions about off the field matters as well.
All who were there also got a world exclusive that Craig 'Hagi' McPherson would be announced as the new youth academy manager! It was also found out that only five teams have chosen to take part in the reserve league this year. Eddie May stated that he would not be willing to play the teams who refused to form a league and will instead play northern English opponents such as Newcastle or Middlesborough. Watch this space for future fixtures.
Eddie is keen to form a good bond with the Falkirk fans and his willingness to come to events like this emphasise that point. BairnsTrust would like to wish Eddie every success in his new role and hopefully he can maintain our SPL status and more. No pressure!

Irish FA Presentation
In the second of two BairnsTrust events in the Amarillo Bar, visitors from the Irish FA were given a warm welcome on Thursday 10/09/09. The evening consisted of a 40 minute DVD presentation followed by a question and answer session. This was hosted by the Irish supporters group called 'The Green and White Army' and the DVD told the story of the past, present and future of supporting Northern Ireland. It showed all the problems they used to have with bigotry and sectarianism and how they overcame these to produce what is now one of the best supporters atmosphere's in the world.
A lot was learned from this session and many ideas were put forward such as having drums and megaphones given out at home games to create a better atmosphere at the Falkirk Stadium! One of the major talking points was allowing fans to have the freedom to stand at matches. This was taken on board by Managing Director George Craig and all parties will continue to work together to try to improve the Falkirk matchday experience.
Scottish Football Debate
Football fans are to have a unique opportunity to quiz the people who run Scottish football, including top men at the SFA, SPL and SFL.
Scotland’s University for Sporting Excellence, the University of Stirling, prides itself on fostering discussion on key sporting issues and on Monday 28 September it will get the ball rolling on the future of the beautiful game by hosting a public debate.
Ahead of former First Minister Henry McLeish’s eagerly anticipated Scottish Football review, the University will host a question-time style debate featuring the main men in Scottish football.
Henry McLeish will be joined in a hard-hitting panel which features Scottish Football Association Chief Executive Gordon Smith, Scottish Premier League Operations Director Iain Blair and Scottish Football League Chief Executive David Longmuir.
PFA Scotland Chief Executive Fraser Wishart and Supporters Direct Development Manager James Proctor complete the top table.
BBC Scotland pundit Jim Spence will chair the discussion at this one-off free public event to address the burning issues.
